Narrowing down an entire day’s worth of frames fro Narrowing down an entire day’s worth of frames from M & R’s wedding celebration felt like an impossible feat. And even with a carousel as full and beautiful as this, there’s still so much of the story left unseen. This summer wedding had it all; wildflowers, renaissance-inspired architecture, gardens, countrysides, mythical-coded details, vintage postcards, a pastel color palette, and so much more. But most of all, it had M & R - two of the most kind-hearted and caring people you will ever meet. How can one even begin to highlight the utter magic and whimsy of this experience? I’m really not sure, but I do know that this is a start. It goes without saying that you can expect to find many more collections and recounts from this day in the future. I realize I’ve been sharing so many engagements an I realize I’ve been sharing so many engagements and couples portraits lately, (and maybe that’s because that’s the season I’m experiencing in my own life), but hey - these kinds of stories are just as significant as anything else. So before I start sharing weddings and elopements again, I wanted to throw it back to S & E’s engagement with this single frame, (which happens to be one of my absolute favorites 🫶🏽). This one image just has me in a chokehold. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I truly believe the most captivating engagement photos all have one thing in common – they are all created from genuine moments of expression and emotional exchange, making them beautifully and distinctly subjective. But I also believe that immersing yourselves in the experience is not only the best way to achieve these qualities in your own engagement photos, but really the only way. I can promise you won’t get these kinds of heartfelt images through rigid and traditional posing. As a photographer, this is where having the ability to read between the lines becomes the most important part of the job - the fleeting smiles, soft glances, the head tilts, the way two people’s hands instinctively intertwine - those moments only live in the in-between. At the end of the day, I don’t think any of us are chasing perfection in our photos with the people we love. I think we’re after authenticity, and being able to hold onto loving reminders of how we’re connected. #marylandweddingphotographer #eastcoastweddingphotographer #mdweddingphotographer #dcweddingphotographer #engagementphotographer
Every August, I’m painfully reminded of summer’s f Every August, I’m painfully reminded of summer’s fleeting nature. And when summer starts to slip away, I find myself revisiting the tangible memories from this blissful summer evening, with two wonderful people, in a place I’ve always loved to spend my warm and sunny days. Part of the reason I fell in love with elopements Part of the reason I fell in love with elopements was because of the kind of the allure that can only be manufactured by traveling somewhere so vast and wild, that the sheer magnitude of its beauty creates the most glorious feeling of insignificance. But wait, how ironic is that? One of the most significant moments of a couple’s lives was the driving force behind their decision to embark on such an adventure in the first place; and yet, once you arrive, you can’t help but be overtaken by the thought of just how big our world is - by how much is happening every second, of every day, outside of humanity’s existence. These frames always bring me back to this very perspective, and how it’s woven it’s way into the couples I work with, the people I meet, and the work I am so deeply fortunate to create. I like to think of this job as a means of exploring the microcosms of the universe, in every crack and crevice of the world we live in, across all walks of life, and especially in experiences like the one above.
